Vevaios

The Vevaios project is based on the strategy which has been devised from the challenges that stutterers face during the job interview. The idea is to redesign the interview format, using virtual reality technology and giving control of the environment to the stutterer, in order to make her or him more confident. The goal of the program is to make the technical interview a less stressful experience for the stutterer by using virtual reality.

To get more information from field research I designed a cultural probe after doing some interviews to understand the challenges the stutter face at the workplace. I explored the topic of colleges' relationships, how disability is perceived depending on the culture and the communication challenges they face on a daily base.

INSIGHTS

- Understanding the user goals and needs.

- Uncovering pain points with the existing user journey.

- What make them relaxed

- How i can help them

- A relaxing environment lessens the stuttering severity

Stutterers were found to stutter more when they are nervous, therefore we need to get them to relax and feel at ease. One way of doing this is by giving them the choice of where their desk will be.

Analysis

After creating the three potential personas, I started thinking about which need most urgently needs a solution. In the beginning, I thought about Suzan or Christian, but after some further thought, it appears that the greatest obstacle for stutterers is the job interview. Moreover, my primary research showed that this was the most painful experience in terms of career life, for people with a stutter. Therefore, the Jack persona is the most relevant for our design challenge.

How might we change the format of the interview to remove bias and make people with stutter more at ease?

The goal of the program is to make the technical interview a less stressful experience for the stutterer by using virtual reality. During this interview, the stutterer will answer all the technical and difficult questions posed by the HR manager. The stutterer can control the variables of the environment such as choosing a comfortable background or environment, designing an avatar to represent themselves, but also to represent the HR manager. If the stutterer passes this interview then the second interview will take place in real-life.
